Heya'll. I've started a page a while ago, for the conversion of weapons from 3rd to 4e. Any suggestions are obviously going to be awesome to work on/with, and I await everyone's input!
Here's the link: 4e Weapons

(If it's possible to change the address of the new page, that'd be kinda nice too. It transformed while I was working on it.)

To anyone who is interested, I added an "adventure seeds" section to the 'Thousand Mountains' project. Check 'em out and feel free to add any ideas you might have. Be as in-depth or brief as you want. I've basically put just short paragraphs to create the adventure hook/seed, but don't feel you have to follow my format.

I'm thinking these ideas could be specific to 'Thousand Mountains' or open for use in any campaign. If anyone has questions about what I might have been thinking as follow up to some my ideas (I have adventures forming in my head, but can't post everything in case my PCs check out the site), just message me and ask. I'm more than willing to share.

P.S.- I originally posted this in the 'suggestions' thread, but figured it was better suited here. So, yeah, I'm a cross-poster

My group also went with the 4d6 - drop the lowest method. No re-rolling of ones though. Then again, we also roll 3 sets of scores and choose the best set (no mixing and matching, each set of scores stays together). I think the guys were pleased with their results (though one guy did have me roll a set of scores for him which turned out to be his best option).

For the "Thousand Mountains" project, I'd prefer people use the forums to suggest content. I have a 'suggestions' thread set up specifically for this. However, if someone wants to throw something in on a wiki page, just please mark it as suggested content. The best way to do this would be to put in bold SUGGESTED CONTENT before the material and END OF SUGGESTION at the end of it.
I'm open to people giving me ideas because I am creating this to use with my players and I want it to be a great game for them. However this is also why I prefer the forums, because if someone puts something out there that I plan on using but don't want the playert to know yhet, it will help keep it a surprise for them.
So, check out the project and let me know what you think

Propagandroid, I sent you a private message last night basically saying what I'm going say here for everyone who reads the forums…

I like the idea of flagging stuff as 'suggested content' so that we know what's what. I think that can totally work. As I said to Prop in the private message, the suggestion thread was so that I could also keep really good ideas that people contributed a secret from my players until they were implemented in my games. It would be no good letting them know what horrible fates can befall them ahead fo time right? So either way should work pretty well as far as I'm concerned. I look forward to hearing what ideas people have for my little project and what they submit elsewhere that I can use to create a better game for my players.

The maps that display on the pages for the Thousand Mountains project are smaller versions of the originals. I figure that would load easier for people. I then also uploaded the original sizes and those should be easier to read (as well as downloadable and zoomable). I don't think I had any places written in on the map I uploaded for Scourwind Valley.

are the uploaded files able to be downloaded? I'll have to check that…..

I have trouble easily reading the names on the maps…I wonder if smaller chunks would let you zoom in more on each area?

If I get the chance (the wife's birthday is tomorrow, so I might have to do it from work - don't tell my boss) I'll throw some of the ideas up there and you can clean it up as you see fit.

I have to say, I'm really liking this whole wiki thing.

Oh, what do you think of the map I uploaded? A keeper or should I try to make something else?

Re: [New Location] The Mill by RauthikRauthik, 05 Jun 2008 04:10

No problems, Rauthik, I'll use the thread.

I'm not pressuring, but what if suggestions were flagged in some way, like:

SUGGESTED CONTENT or UNOFFICIAL CONTENT
The content…
END SUGGESTED CONTENT

That way people could see it on the wiki, but your players would know it was part of the wiki and not part of the actual setting? If you liked some content, you could just take the SUGGESTION tags off, change and move it…if you hated it, you could cut it out and put it on a "rejected content" page for other people to use or the author to reclaim?

Again, I'm not pushing, just throwing out ideas. Maybe people would feel more comfortable adding to projects if there was a way to flag their content so authors wouldn't feel abused but people could see and comment on their ideas at the wiki?

Actually, yeah - it helps a lot. Thanks Rauthik.
I like the idea about the Mill being a dispossessed spirit. Toby and his wife though, that one I'll have to work through.
Now to remember to update the page sometime soon with these changes. :)
Life get hectic sometimes. *sigh*.

I haven't tried firefox (lately anyway) and it seems to be fixed. Don't know how or why, but I ain't complaining :)

Re: when editing or posting by RauthikRauthik, 05 Jun 2008 00:52

First, I just want to say thanx for fixing my typo with the changes I made today (the whole tm: thing). I really appreciate all the support you've provided so far. I have to say, I'm loving this site.

Also, thanx for liking some of the ideas. By all means use whatever you want in your campaigns. That's the whole reason I'm posting it.

As for adding things, since I'm still working out a lot of ideas in my own head, I'd prefer that any stuff you want to add be put in the "suggestions" thread first. I'd hate to have you post something that conflicts with something I already have in mind but didn't post yet. I know this kind of goes against the whole wiki ideal, but this way it will cut down on any confusion. I plan on having my players sign up and post their characters when we start and they can check the wiki for background info on the world.

I just realized this should probably have been a personal message instead of posting it here…. hmm.. I'll have to message you later as well then. Sorry about that.

Re: Intro and Questions by RauthikRauthik, 05 Jun 2008 00:51

I've been working on it. I'll ask on the community forums if it doesn't get fixed.

Have you tried Firefox?

Welcome everyone, I can't wait to see what you've got in store for us!

There are a ton of new members, but only a few of us are editing…I encourage everyone to just jump in there and make an edit, don't be shy! If you want to learn things, feel free to create a test page…maybe a small addition to someone's project, so that you'll own the page and won't feel bad if something goes wrong!

Cinematic Sands: I will break it down into pages for easier editing, but I'd like people to share their ideas in each section.

Scourwind Valley: Feel free to add pages, locations, etc., and to develop the setting on the wiki pages however you like. Make changes, but try not to retcon anything that was just edited or created without chatting with the author first.

4e House Rules Central: Adding to this wiki is an At Will ability.

Is your new project open for development? Would you prefer just discussion on the forums, or can people start editing wiki pages? Perhaps a forum thread linked to each project (page) where people can chronicle their changes?

I find myself wanting to jump into some of these projects, but don't want to step on any toes!

Wow, the flooded mountain is awesome! Consider that yoinked for my next campaign. I'm not sure how much outside development you want on the setting itself, but I'd like to start adding things to the wiki page for it if you're cool with it.

Hi folks

My names Chris and I thought this site would be a great place to throw my game design ideas around and hopefully get some constructive feedback along with some fresh outlooks on things. Looking forward to seeing what people come up with.

Hello!

I'm another fan of Chatty. I'm investigating The Gamer Dome as a way to organize my gaming hacks. Right now I'm hacking Moldvay/Cook/Labyrinth Lord D&D. So far, my hacks have appeared on my blog (and one may appear in Fight On! #2) but they're not in an easy-to-find, searchable format. I was contemplating building a page to hold them, but if y'all have done all the ugly HTML for me, well, I'm lazy enough to jump on the bandwagon. ;)

I also love to peruse other people's work for inspiration, so a site like this is great for wasting time er, I mean, sparking off new ideas or finding new ways of tackling old challenges.

- Brian
